Gas Metal Arc Welding

This type of welding is commonly referred to as metal inert gas welding (MIG). This welding method uses a consumable electrode which is continually fed using a welding gun. Instead of relying on a fluxing agent to protect the weld, MIG welding employs an inert gas that is supplied to the welding area using the welding gun.
