Wildlands of Maryland

State Wildlands - Wildland areas shall be administered for the use and enjoyment of the people of Maryland in a manner that will leave them unimpaired for the future use and enjoyment as wildlands. Recreational activities such as hiking, canoeing, hunting, and fishing are allowed, but motor vehicles are prohibited. The entire  43,122 acre wildlands system in Maryland consists of areas of less than 3,000 acres each.
