MARYLAND ENVIRONMENTAL POLL RESULTS

Mason-Dixon Polling and Research interviewed 625 registered Maryland voters statewide October 16-18, 2001.  Margin for error is plus or minus 4%.  "Eastern Shore/Southern Maryland" and "Western Maryland" regions were combined for statistical analysis into "Rural Maryland" in the results document.  This is because the confidence level was increased and margin for error reduced by lumping them together. 

QUESTION: Which one of the following activities would you most likely participate in at a Maryland State Forest?

I am going to read you several functions of Maryland’s State Forests, and would like to know how important you feel each one is.  

QUESTION: How important is it for Maryland’s State Forests to provide for the Protection of Wildlife?  Is it a very important function, somewhat important, not too important, or not at all important?         

 

QUESTION: How important is it for Maryland’s State Forests to help provide Clean Water and Air?  Is it a very important function, somewhat important, not too important, or not at all important?

 

QUESTION: How important is it for Maryland’s State Forests to provide Recreation and Sightseeing?  Is it a very important function, somewhat important, not too important, or not at all important?

 

QUESTION: How important is it for Maryland’s State Forests to provide land for Hunting?  Is it a very important function, somewhat important, not too important, or not at all important?

 

QUESTION: How important is it for Maryland’s State Forests to provide timber for Logging and Wood Products?  Is it a very important function, somewhat important, not too important, or not at all important?

QUESTION: Do you support or oppose designating more areas in Maryland’s State Forests as “wildlands”, where logging and motorized vehicles are banned?

QUESTION: Do you feel hunting should be:

     - Permitted in most Maryland State Forests,

     - Restricted to about half of Maryland’s State             Forests

- or, Banned in all Maryland State Forests?
